XP and levels for a Discord server
Counting participation, not messages: a link, a picture and a sentence are not the same contribution.
Why a message count is the wrong measure
A bot that counts messages rewards whoever types most, which is not the same as whoever adds most. The rule here separates a plain line from one carrying a link or an image, applies a cooldown so a burst is not worth more than a conversation, and skips channels you exclude.
Levels that hand out roles
Attach a role to a level and it is granted when somebody reaches it, without anybody watching. If a level has no role attached, the dashboard says so on the page rather than leaving you to notice that nothing happens — a module quietly rewarding nobody is the one an owner switches off a week later.
On the free tier
The free tier climbs to level 5 and shows a top 3. XP keeps accruing above the cap, so paying later does not start anybody over.
Premium is $9 a month. The free tier needs no payment and is not a trial.
Questions
- What happens to levels if I stop paying?
- Nothing is deleted. The ceiling comes back at level 5, and everything earned above it is still there if you return.
